Success Story - Queen :

Queen was confiscated along with her buddy Sticky.  Sticky had gotten into a fight with another dog and poor Queenie got taken along with him.  She was a sweet dog from day one and everyone loved her.  She got adopted by someone who had a cat already and who later came to the shelter to adopt another cat from us.  In spite of not having been around cats, we felt that Queen would do fine because of her gentle nature.

This is from her adopter: “We took Queen to the dog park for the first time was on Columbus Day, which was great because it wasn’t particularly crowded and the two dogs she played with at first were much smaller than her. One looked like the dog from Men in Black, I believe that’s a French bulldog, and the other was a pit bull/lab puppy. After she played with those two dogs, another guy brought in an 8 month male pit bull, and then poodles came in left and right, and then came a huge mastiff!   Queen was such a hoot, she ran and ran all around the park until she tired herself out and just laid down right in the park. Then the other little dogs and puppy came and laid by her, it was so cute. I’m not sure who had a better time, me or Queen, we stayed ALL day! I talked to a lot of the owners who were fascinated that Queen was such a sweetheart. They all had that wool over their eyes that she would be some stereotypical mean viscous dog. Never the less we took her back again and she played with a 9 month old Boxer. She seems to have a lot of patience for these puppies that love to play with her. They run up to her and want to be chased, and she really enjoys running and chasing, which brings us to the home situation!

Queen deserves a great deal of credit because our kitty cat, Mittens, is a trouble maker. Mittens pretends to be so innocent and cute, and then walks right up to Queen and starts trouble. Although Mittens and Queen haven’t snuggled yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if they grew to that point. They definitely don’t fight and Queen does not growl at her and bark, so I’d say with a lot of time, and just continuing to re-enforce how valuable they both are in front of the other one, they will grow to become really attached. Anyway, all is well, and I’m ready to hit the dog park again!”
